Fresh Perspectives: The Heartbeat of Threads of Identity

For years, working with corporate clients—me as a fabric supplier, Pavna as a garment manufacturer—meant navigating within well-defined parameters. Corporate systems had their routines set in stone, budgets fixed, and a preference for the familiar when it came to prints and silhouettes. The choices were rarely daring: we noticed how each company clung to safe, signature patterns and silhouettes, creating almost a uniform-like identity. You could spot a corporate garment from a distance, identifying its origin by its print or its cut. There was a certain predictability to it all—a tried, tested, and time-bound playbook, where festive seasons brought in traditional prints and shapes, spring signalled florals and A-line silhouettes, and summer meant soft pastels and easy, flowing garments.

After spending so much time in this world, it almost became a game—guessing the collection just by glancing at the motifs and colours. Florals? Must be spring. Earthy tones? Summer is here. Even the fit and fall of the clothes gave away the season. While this pattern brought a sense of order, it also left little room for the thrill of the new, or the joy of surprise.

At Threads of Identity, we wanted to break this mould. Yes, we still had to keep an eye on the bottom line, just like the corporates, but our hearts longed for more. Our dream was to let creativity lead the way, to bring out something fresh, meaningful, and personal with every single collection. When I print fabric for Threads of Identity in my factory, each design is exclusive—never seen before, and never to be repeated. Our collections are intentionally limited, so I only print as much as is needed. Once the fabrics are done, the screens are destroyed. This ensures that every Threads of Identity piece remains truly unique—an experience in itself, not a mass-produced commodity. Each collection is a tapestry of three to four prints, thoughtfully curated to harmonise with one another and to tell a story together.

This philosophy extends beyond prints. Pavna approaches silhouettes with the same fresh lens. Every design starts with the print, and inspiration is drawn from the season, the fabric itself, and above all, the story we want to tell. She sketches the silhouettes by hand, assigns prints to each, and creates mock-ups that are tried on real people to see what works, what doesn't, and what can be improved. Only after this loving, iterative process do we finalise the pieces that will make it to the collection. As the story takes shape, we keep styling minimal—letting the garment and print do the talking, making sure each look feels effortless yet distinct.

At the core of Threads of Identity is a simple, heartfelt belief: to use our creativity to its fullest, and to give our customers something new to cherish with every collection. Each piece is an invitation to embrace individuality, to celebrate the beauty of the present moment, and to feel truly seen in what you wear. For us, fashion isn’t just about clothing—it’s about creating memories, experiences, and a genuine connection, both with ourselves and with those around us.
