From Desk to Dinner: Designing for Real Women, Real Lives
At Threads of Identity, every collection is born from a thoughtful narrative—a guiding theme that anchors its designs and infuses meaning into every stitch. When we embarked on creating our first collection, we too found ourselves at a crossroads: What story would our designs tell? Which silhouettes, colours, and motifs would best represent the spirit of who we are and the lives of the women we dress? These questions were not just technical—they formed the very fabric of our creative process, ensuring our vision was not only unique, but deeply relevant to our community.
During this journey, real conversations shaped our approach. Pavna, an integral part of our team, voiced what many women in Jaipur—and indeed, across urban India—experience daily: growing traffic, longer commutes, and the exhaustion of balancing multiple roles. She talked about the challenge of finding attire that could effortlessly transition from a demanding work day to a spontaneous dinner with friends, or an after-hours play date with her son. Her words echoed a universal desire—for clothing that is not only stylish and fresh, but also versatile and comfortable. We recognised that the modern Indian woman needs pieces that support her dynamic routine, allowing her to move confidently through her day without frequent changes or second thoughts about what she is wearing.
Our experiences collaborating with corporates further strengthened this conviction. We noticed that office attire often relied on uninspired, generic prints—frequently copied or downloaded, lacking in originality or personal connection. The prevailing silhouettes, such as basic straight kurtas and button-down shirts, felt disconnected from the evolving identity of the Indian woman—whether she is a professional, a mother managing her household, or someone simply wishing to feel good in her own skin. We believe that wardrobe choices should reflect and empower women’s diverse lifestyles, celebrating their individuality with comfort and grace.
This is why we at Threads of Identity embraced the philosophy of “Desk to Dinner”—a collection crafted with versatility at its core. Our designs offer subtle, yet striking colours, smart and contemporary cuts, and above all, comfort without compromise. We aspire for each piece to become a reliable companion as women navigate work, family, and social commitments, seamlessly adapting to every occasion. Our commitment is simple: to create clothing that not only expresses style, but also honours the stories, needs, and resilience of real women.
